Former Williamstown Primary School
This development is located on the Former Williamstown Primary School site which had been unoccupied for around 5 years prior to purchase following the relocation of the school facilities. Developed in partnership with Rhondda Housing Association, the completed site will consist of 23 new affordable dwellings, providing a mix of houses, flats and bungalows.
The site is on two levels and underlain by rock, which had previously been quarried during the 18th and 19th century. These challenging ground conditions required innovative excavation and construction solutions to be adopted and the majority of the rock waste was crushed and utilised within the development. Additionally, a number of services diversions were required to enable the use of a crane for the super-structure lifting operations.
The new dwellings are timber frame construction with an outer skin of brick or stone and handover is targeted for early 2020.
